The Grant Assist Program is an initiative by the Office of the Vice-President (Research), designed to enhance the quality and competitiveness of applications to the Tri-Council agencies (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC) and other major research competitions.
Support for CIHR applicants began in June 2011. Support for Engineering, Humanities, Natural and Social Sciences researchers was piloted in 2013. The full Grant Assist Program (CIHR, NSE, SS&H) was incorporated in the University of Alberta's comprehensive institutional plan For the Public Good and approved by the Board of Governors in June 2016.
This site is focused on Social Sciences and Humanities researchers. If you are seeking support for CIHR or NSERC oriented research, please use the "Quick Links" to get to the other sites.
If you are planning to apply to one of SSHRC's major competitions --Insight Development Grant, Insight Grant, Partnership Development Grant or Partnership Grant stage one and two-- please begin with the "Who can help" and the "Toolkit for Success" tabs (on the left).
